Le Comptoir Bourguignon, the restaurant that sublimates Burgundy cuisine in the 1st | Discoveries

Lyon, “world capital of gastronomy” since 1935, is a title that we are not about to let go. However, it must be recognized, even if they do not come close to us, our neighbors have some assets. Burgundy, for example, is full of specialities, which we all love: mustard, beef bourguignon, gingerbread… Good news: nestled in the 1st arrondissement, the Comptoir Bourguignon restaurant celebrates the traditional dishes of its region.

In a cozy and warm atmosphere, with its exposed stone walls, its glass roof overlooking the kitchen, its bench and its large counter, we feel like at home when you stop at the Comptoir Bourguignon.

Originally from Dijon, chef Alexis Billoux left Burgundy to settle in Lyon with the promise of showcasing the cuisine of his region. There are plates full of flavors, worked with products coming straight from Bourgogne-Franche-Comté : traditional poached eggs accompanied by garlic bread, rabbit ravioli and their mustard cream, destructured apple crumble and especially the Burger Rossini Charolais, with Mont d’Or, red onions, ketchup of blackcurrant and mashed potatoes… Are you already salivating? It’s normal.

Surprising “wine list” and vaulted cellar that can be privatized

Who says Burgundy, necessarily says good wines. So the Comptoir Bourguignon offers a card with its effigy, 100% Burgundian, with a few exceptions. The big difference lies in the experience for which chef Alexis saw things differently: no “real” wine list strictly speaking, but a surprising experience that takes you to the heart of the restaurant : the wine cellar. Head down the hall to access this hidden room where you will find a large high table that can accommodate a dozen people, surrounded by racks filled with fine wines. There, you can choose which bottles will accompany your meal to go back to the dining room with.
