On the occasion of the inauguration of the new Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, Elon Musk indulged in some indiscretions on the future of the Tesla range.
Despite his young age, Tesla has no shortage of novelties. Some will say that they sometimes struggle to come out, as is the case with the Cybertruck presented in 2019 and whose production should begin in 2023.
But the American firm intends to expand its range soon after the launch of the Model Y.
Go beyond the “simple car”?
There are many projects on Elon Musk’s desk, and among them there is the one of an autonomous robotaxi and, of course, 100% electric. Regarding the details, we will come back, the whimsical boss of Tesla did what he is used to doing, that is to say, announce a novelty with great fanfare while taking care not to distill too much technical detail.
Just enough to set the assembly on fire, if that was necessary, considering that the party was in full swing at the inauguration of the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, where the atmosphere was very festive with an Elon Musk in great shape.
According to Elon Musk therefore, it will be “a vehicle with a futuristic look”neither more nor less, without it being a Tesla Model 3 robotaxi.
The first 100% autonomous Tesla?
Of course, some were quick to speculate on the announcement of this novelty, the date (we should even say the year) is not yet known.
As its name suggests, this robotaxi should have sole mission the transport of people and will be fully automated. Thus, it should be one of the first vehicles to be equipped Level 5 autonomous driving technology.
