this bracelet for Apple Watch allows you to make video calls

This is arguably the most amazing accessory ever released for the Apple Watch. The Wristcam is a bracelet that allows the watch to make… video calls. Straight from the wrist!

The Wristcam is unlike any other Apple Watch strap. If the accessory is really thick, it’s for a good cause: it incorporates nothing less than two video sensors, a camera that allows you to film the world around you from your wrist, while the other is used for calls on video !

When is the integration in the watch?

The exterior sensor is 8 megapixels, against 2 megapixels for the camera for calls. Last year, when the product was presented, it simply made it possible to record videos and take photos, without having to draw the smartphone all the time. An update (in beta) of the application enables video calls.

Apple has not adapted FaceTime for its connected watch, so you will have to go through the Wristcam application with which you can launch videos. In addition, developers who wish to do so will be able to integrate this technology into their own apps. We can thus imagine that Zoom or Teams could be used with the Apple Watch… Dream or nightmare, that remains to be seen!

The bracelet, which weighs only 22 grams, is water resistant: it can therefore be taken to the edge of the swimming pool without any worries. The whole thing will be priced at $299, which isn’t that expensive compared to other Apple Watch straps that can be a lot more expensive (and don’t have cameras).

The next step is now the integration of video sensors directly into watches. Apple has resisted it so far, but not Meta: according to rumors, the first smart watch of the ex-Facebook could embark two cameras…
